"I paint and draw to express my feelings, and to let my Inner Child play."
Wheeshan Ong (pronounced as V-San) was born and grew up in Malaysia as a second generation Chinese. Today she lives and works as an artist from her farmhouse in the countryside of southern Austria. Her main inspiration comes from her love of nature, fairytales and myths. She loves to depict feminine beauty through her art. The main medium she uses is acrylic, though she also experiments with other media such as watercolours, graphite, pencil colours and ink.
Wheeshan graduated from Thames Valley University (now known as University of West London) with a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems in 2000. Some of her biggest life achievements include climbing Mt. Everest Base Camp and diving with sharks. She left Malaysia to work and travel the world in her early 20s. The jobs she did, such as programmer, flight purser, PADI scuba diving instructor, yoga teacher and sales representative allowed her to live in many countries - Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, the United States, England, Spain and finally, in Austria. It was in the enchanted countryside of Carinthia where a series of unforeseen events led her into the art world – a passion of hers since she was a child. Wheeshan has published many colouring books, collaborated with colouring magazines on various publications. She has exhibited in group shows with galleries in Germany and Slovenia. Wheeshan has a solo exhibition coming up next in Austria in October 2024. Wheeshan's life-long passion is to keep creating beauty to share with the world. She plans to draw and paint until the moon stops shining on earth. Besides creating art, she is also writing poems. She loves art, books, flowers, animals and food. She is currently a mother to a lovely cat named Moonia. Her favorite food is Chinese Dim Sum 點心, and she especially loves Baozi 包子 (Chinese Steamed Buns.)
