"I paint and draw to express beauty through the eyes of my Inner Child."
Wheeshan Ong (pronounced 'V-San') was born and raised in Malaysia as a second-generation Chinese. Today, she lives and works as an artist in the woodlands of Carinthia, Austria. Surrounded by nature and fuelled by a love for storytelling, she channels her vivid imagination into vibrant, energectic and soulful works of art.
Wheeshan began her artistic journey as an illustrator of colouring books. Over time, her focus evolved towards painting — particularly using acrylic with impasto techniques — to create textured, energetic pieces that celebrate feminine beauty and emotional depth. For her, painting is a means of illuminating the inner journey and connecting with the soul. She feels most at home depicting the feminine form, using it to capture the evanescent nature of human emotion and the ever-evolving essence of the self. In the process, she glimpses fragments of herself, and in that reflection, she finds profound and abiding fulfillment.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from Thames Valley University (now the University of West London), graduating in 2000. In her early twenties, she left Malaysia to explore the world – some of her life experiences include climbing to Mt. Everest Base Camp and diving with sharks. Her professional journey has been as diverse as her travels, spanning roles as a computer programmer, flight purser, PADI scuba diving instructor, yoga teacher, and sales representative. These experiences led her to live and work in Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, the United States, England, Spain, South America, and ultimately Austria. It was in the enchanted countryside of Carinthia that a series of unexpected life events brought her back to her lifelong passion for art. Today, her work continues to be deeply inspired by her travels and adventurous spirit, allowing her to tap into the rich archetypal worlds and infuse her creations with vibrant, transformative energy.
Wheeshan’s creative work includes colouring and poetry books, colouring magazine collaborations, and exhibitions in Germany, Slovenia and Austria.
Wheeshan also finds joy in books, poetry, flowers, animals, travel, fashion and food. Her favourite dish is Chinese Dim Sum 點心 — especially *Baozi* 包子 (steamed buns).
A devoted lover of beauty in all its forms, her lifelong mission is simple yet powerful: to keep creating art and sharing it with the world
— for as long as the moon shines upon the earth.
